the Boston Red Sox

With David Ortiz, "Big Papi," hurt and out at least until the all-star break, is there any way the Boston Red Sox have a chance at post-season play? Is repeating as MLB World Champions completely out of the question?

Francona is more fortunate than most managers who lose their clutch performer. Though Varatek is the leader of the team (much like Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics), Ortiz is the emotional leader (very similar to KG).

Francona definitely has options; move Manny to DH or even Casey. Fortunately, this team is relatively deep. Although no one can replace "Papi's" power in the batter's box, there is more than one guy who can/will step up and get base hits and/or RBI's.

PLUS what the HECK happened to Okajima last night? Not even an inning and he gives up 4 runs. That's his 5th blown save ... He is my favorite player because he's underpaid and (usually) performs extremely well. Pedroia-DESTROYA is a stud as well.

{My 4-yr. daughter's favorite player is "JOE-dacoby."}

... another question, will Yankees Joba do anything as a starter? Does it hurt them as a team game-in-game-out only having the "throw-at-Youk-cause-I'm-a-bum" pitching every 5th game?
