for the C's to win Game 7

In my opinion:

The loss of Perk may become a blessing in disguise.  If Sheed plays great post defense, the C's should/could be okay.  Both Sheed and Baby can hit a jumper; i.e., extend the defense, therefore opening the lane for Rondo to get to the rim.

*Rondo needs to understand being fouled by one of LA's bigs is just as important as making the free throws in this Game 7.

Sheed's stated he'll emerge in the playoffs.  Has there ever been a bigger game for "GuaranSheed"?

Pierce and KG will be All Stars.  Ray Ray will if the refs allow him to be ... Referee calls will play a huge role; as the key to the C's defense vs. the Lakers bigs will be understand the difference between tough and physical, hustle, "wile-veteranism" and looking for a call/to make a call.

LA ... Kobe, Fisher, Pau, Artest, Odom ...

Celtics starters must play the game min. they did in high school.  Boston's bench not only needs to bring energy but must execute defensively and move the ball on offense.  Do not settle for jump shots unless they come out of the offense.  Foul the bigs out, double team Kobe; and pray he has an off game.

2010 NBA Finals ... ESPN Classic Series; C's by 5.

(or LA by 15)

Ray Allen

My observation saw Ray's looks off more one-on-one misdirection to get open vs. the team setting multiple double and staggered screens.  Pierce and Ray's shot were short, flat almost; but Game 4 & 5 better be different for the Green.

MARK COFMAN

162-0: IMAGINE A RED SOX PERFECT SEASON

By Mark Cofman/Foreword by Tony Massarotti

Even the greatest baseball teams lose 30 percent or more of their games each season. The Boston Red Sox have put together some very impressive regular season records in recent history, including their World Series championship teams in 2004 and 2007; however, they never won more than 65.3% percent of their games during those two years.

But imagine, Boston fans, a year in which the Red Sox never lose a single game. An undefeated regular season including a season-long sweep of the dreaded Yankees…perfection at its greatest! Author and Boston journalist Mark Cofman envisions just that in his new book 162-0: Imagine a Red Sox Perfect Season

Complete with a foreword from Boston Globe writer Tony Massarotti, Cofman chronicles the most memorable victories on each and every single day of the baseball calendar season, including:

¨ The first ever game at Fenway – a win against New York – on April 20, 1912
¨ Roger Clemens striking out a record 20 Mariners on April 29, 1986
¨ Cy Young chalking up the only perfect game in Red Sox history on May 5, 1904
¨ Cancer survivor Jon Lester’s no-hitter against the Royals on May 19, 2008
¨ Ted Williams home run in his career finale on September 28, 1960
¨ Carl Yastrzemski winning the AL Triple Crown on October 1, 1967

Ranging from games with incredible historical significance to great individual Red Sox achievements, 162-0: Imagine a Red Sox Perfect Season is a classic must-have for Sox fans that reflects back on the greatest moments in Boston Red Sox lore and ponders the impossible…a perfect season both at Fenway Park and on the road.

Coach Mike Salmon

Coach Mike Salmon returns in 2010 to the Ice Storm after a three year hiatus. An original member of the team, Mike played in 2001 and 2002 as a defensive back and linebacker. In 2002 Vermont went on to win the championship of the New England Football League by defeating the New England Stars 18-0 in Boston, MA.

In 2003 Salmon retired from playing to concentrate on coaching. Over the next four years he coached the defensive backfield, special teams, running backs and in 2006 was elevated to the defensive coordinator position. That year, 2006, the team moved up to the Triple A level and entered the Empire Football League. The Ice Storm advanced to the second round in the national tournament before bowing to the eventual National runner-up team, the Albany Metro Mallers.

In 2007 Salmon took a leave from the Ice Storm and along with his wife Linda successfully formed a single A semi-pro football team located in Barre, VT. Salmon as the Vermont Ravens Head Coach for two years and defensive coordinator for one helped the team reach the New England Football league's championship game two out of three years.

Mike is a 1977 graduate of South Burlington High School and a former football player for the Rebels. Shortly after graduating from SBHS he met his wife Linda with whom he has shared the last 32 years. Together they have five children and eleven grandchildren.

Coach Salmon has been employed by Triangle Metal Fab in Milton for the past 14 years as shop Foreman. Residing in Colchester, the family enjoy boating on Lake Champlain, and cheering on the local sports teams from UVM, St. Michael's, the Lake Monsters and Frost Heaves. In his spare time Mike coaches the Colchester Rockets, who are the recreation department's 5-6 grade basketball team.

2010 NIT Final Four

Madison Square Garden, New York City

NATIONAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

#3 Dayton vs. #2 Mississippi
#2 Rhode Island vs. #4 North Carolina

No number one seed advanced to the NIT Final Four. Illinois (Dayton), Arizona State (Mississippi), Virginia Tech (Rhode Island) & Mississippi State (North Carolina) all find themselves watching the NCAA, NIT & CBI Championships from the comfort of their dorm room.

This all begs the question; and no I'm not simple posting because I'm a Carolina "homer"; but who holds the rights to the NIT, and CBI for that matter? ESPN?

CBS currently holds the rights to the NCAA tournament. If any sort of expansion occurs, what will it do to the NIT, and/or CBI?

(My suggestion for NCAA expansion either drop the play-in game; or add a play-in game for each region. THAT is it.)

Regarding UNC, ... possible back-to-back "Championships" in Chapel Hill ...

SHARON DAWLEY: UVM Women's Basketball Head Coach

THIS Thurs., March 18th @ 9:05 PM, SHARON DAWLEY will join the Stations of Radio Vermont, as I fill in for Lee Kittell on his sports talk and rock show "SCORE," WDeV FM and AM!

The 2009-10 season marks the seventh season at the helm of the Vermont women's basketball program for head coach Sharon Dawley. She was introduced as head coach at the University of Vermont on June 11, 2003.

Dawley owns a career record of 238-142 in 15 years as a head coach at the collegiate level. She is 101-79 in six seasons at Vermont and ranks third among the all-time winningest coaches at UVM. She picked up her 100th career win at Vermont with a 66-56 win over Hartford in the semifinals of the 2009 America East Championship. Dawley earned her 200th career victory with an 80-64 win over Harvard on December 16, 2007.

During her stint on the UVM sidelines 23 of the 28 players that have taken the floor have earned either academic and/or athletic accolades from America East.

Last season (2008-09), Dawley led Vermont to its first America East Championship since 2000 with upset wins over No. 2 Hartford in the semifinals and No. 1 Boston University in the title game. With the championship win, the Catamounts made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in nine years. UVM drew No. 1 Connecticut in the first round of the NCAAs and fell to the eventual national champions.

Courtnay Pilypaitis and May Kotsopoulos led Vermont at the America East Tournament last season. Pilypaitis was named the Most Outstanding Player after averaging 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and shooting 9.13 percent from the foul line. Kotsopoulos joined Pilypaitis on the all-tournament team. She averaged 17.3 points and shot 55.6 percent from three-point range and 82.6 percent from the foul line. Kotsopoulos garnered a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Women's Basketball First Team and was named the America East Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete for the second straight season.

In 2007-08, Dawley guided Vermont to one of its best seasons in school history. The Catamounts went 24-9 overall, recording the fourth most wins in school history, and were the America East Runners-up during the regular season with a 13-3 league mark. UVM also earned its second trip to the Postseason WNIT Tournament in school history and the first postseason appearance under Dawley. The Catamounts drew regional rival Dartmouth in the first round of the WNIT and Dawley faced her former mentor Chris Wielgus on the opposing sideline. Vermont defeated the Big Green to earn its third postseason victory in school history and advanced to the second round of the WNIT for the second time in the program's history.

Several Catamounts were honored following the 2007-08 season. Pilypaitis was named the America East Player of the Year and garnered a spot on the all-conference first team. Kotsopoulos became the first Catamount to be named the America East Defensive Player of the Year and was also selected to the all-conference second team and all-defensive team. She was also named the America East Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete.

The 2006-07 season was one of Dawley’s best at Vermont. She led UVM to a 19-12 record and a third place finish in the America East Conference. She guided the Catamounts to a 13-3 start, the best since the 1992-93 season. The year was also highlighted by Vermont’s first-ever win over a ranked opponent when the Catamounts upset No. 22 Boston College in the championship game of the URI Invitational.

After being picked to finish eighth in the 2006-07 America East Preseason Coaches Poll, Dawley led Vermont to a No. 3 seed and the Catamounts advanced to the semifinals of the America East Women’s Basketball Championship. Pilypaitis and Kotsopoulos were unanimous picks for the America East All-Rookie Team. Pilypaitis was a unanimous selection for the America East Rookie of the Year honor and Kotsopoulos became the first Vermont player to earn a spot on the America East All-Defensive Team.

The Catamounts were named one of the most improved teams in the country at the Division I level following the 2006-07 season. Dawley was also the recipient of the 2007 Charles Zabriskie Jr. Awards for Excellence.

The Catamounts posted a record of 9-18 overall in 2005-06. A pair of Vermont players earned America East All-Conference honors. During the season UVM advanced to the championship game of two in-season tournaments and three players earned all-tournament honors.

In 2004-05, the Catamounts were picked to finish seventh in the America East Preseason Coaches Poll, but surpassed the coaches expectations and earned the No. 4 seed in the America East Women's Basketball Championship with an overall record of 14-15 and a 9-9 mark in the league. The Catamounts defeated No. 5 Binghamton, marking Dawley's first America East Tournament victory, in the quarterfinals and advanced to the America East Semifinals for the 14th time in the history of the program.

During the season, the Catamounts advanced to the championship game of two regular season tournaments. UVM opened the 2004-05 campaign with a victory over Louisville in the TD Banknorth Classic at Patrick Gym. Vermont also traveled to San Diego to compete in the Surf-n-Slam Classic, earning a first round win over host San Diego before falling to Mississippi in the title game.

Following the 2004-05 season, Lani Boardman was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, while teammate Alexis Castro earned America East All-Rookie honors. Boardman, an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team selection on 2004-05, was also named to the America East All-Championship Team after an impressive performance in the tournament.

In Dawley's first season on the Vermont sidelines (2003-04), she posted the best start by a first-year head coach at Vermont, guiding the Catamounts to a 6-2 mark to begin the season. She earned her first career victory as a Catamount in UVM's 72-51 season opening win over St. Francis (N.Y.) in the first round of the TD Bank Classic. Dawley recorded her first America East victory with a 92-76 win over Stony Brook (Jan. 13, 2004) at Patrick Gym.

Dawley also guided Vermont to a five-game win streak to close out the regular season, which included victories over No.1 Maine, No. 2 Binghamton and No. 4 Albany on the road. Vermont's victory over Maine in Alfond Arena snapped the Black Bear's 31-game conference win streak. At the end of the year, Aaron Yantzi was named to the America East All-Conference First Team.

Under Dawley's guidance, the Vermont women's basketball team has also earned success in the classroom. During her six years at the helm of the Catamounts, her student-athletes have earned 55 America East Academic Honor Roll citations, including 23 nominations to the America East Commissoner's Academic Honor Roll for achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Kotsopoulos has earned the America East Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete honor twice heading into the 2009-10 season. Three players, Kotsopoulos, Boardman '05 and Brittney Cross '07 including Kotsopoulos have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Women's Basketball First Team and gone on to be on the national academic All-America ballot.

In 2008-09 Amy Rosenkrantz was a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Women's Basketball Award. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award encourages student-athletes to use their platform in college athletics to make a positive impact of their circle of influence. Finalists were selected from a list of 30 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete. Each finalist displays numerous accomplishments across all four award pillars: classroom, community, character and competition.

In 2003-04, Dawley's first year at Vermont, the Catamounts ranked 10th out of the 25 Division I teams selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for Division I. The award recognized the nation's highest team grade point averages (GPA) for the that season. The Catamounts posted a 3.35 overall GPA and were the top team among the women's basketball programs in the America East. In 2004-05, Vermont posted a team GPA of 3.20 in to lead all America East women's basketball teams.

Prior to arriving at Vermont, Dawley spent 10 years as a member of the women's basketball staff at nearby Dartmouth College. She served as an assistant coach from 1993-1997 and was promoted to associate head women's basketball coach under head coach Chris Wielgus in July of 1997.

During Dawley's decade-long stint on the Dartmouth sideline, the Big Green won four Ivy League Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times, including back-to-back appearances in 1999 and 2000. Dawley was instrumental in the Big Green's success over the 10 years. During her tenure every four-year player at Dartmouth graduated with at least one Ivy League Championship ring.

Before joining the Dartmouth staff, Dawley served as head women's basketball coach at Tufts University for nine seasons. She compiled a record of 137-62 (.688) and still owns the record for most wins and best winning percentage in the program's history.

She led the Jumbos to a Northeast Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in just her third season (1986-87). Tufts reached the NIAC title game in her first five years. The Jumbos also reached the ECAC Championship semifinals in three of Dawley's final four seasons, the first postseason appearances in the program's history.

In October of 2009, Dawley was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. She was one of two inductees in the Division I College Women's Coaches category.

JIM CRAIG

Jim Craig has been called the backbone of a team that accomplished one of the most extraordinary and memorable sports victories of all time. He went on to play professionally and transitioned to tremendous and ongoing success in the business world.

Today Jim Craig travels internationally as a motivational speaker, spokesperson, marketing and sales strategist, and master storyteller. He is president of Gold Medal Strategies, a Boston-area based promotions and marketing firm that also manages and represents Jim and his appearance business. Over the past 25 years, Jim has inspired, instructed, and provided strategic and winning direction for employees and associates from more than 300 organizations, including Allianz, Bayer Corporation, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Coca-Cola, Dunkin’ Donuts, Evergreen Financial, GE Access, Gore Medical, John Hancock, Next Financial, Time Inc., Walt Disney, Welch’s, and other companies that hold some of the world’s most recognized brands.

An All-American goalie at Boston University and standout for the Terriers’ 1978 NCAA championship squad, Jim was selected as the starting goaltender for the U.S. 1980 Olympic hockey team. At the Lake Placid games his performance was phenomenal. Indispensable to Team U.S.A.’s epic – what some have called miraculous – upset of the Soviet Union was the play of Jim Craig. In the game against the Soviets, the Americans were outshot 42-16, but Jim made 39 saves, many of the spectacular variety, and his teammates scored four times. Two days later, against Finland, Jim was again superb, and the Yanks won, 4-2, to take Olympic gold.

How incredible was the victory over the Soviets? Consider that as the 20th century came to a close, most major media sports polls selected what happened two decades prior in Lake Placid, as the number one sports episode of the previous 100 years.

“It may just be the single most indelible moment in all of U.S. sports history,” said Sports Illustrated of Team USA’s win over the Soviet Union. “One that sent an entire nation into frenzy.”

Following the Olympic Games, Jim Craig played in the NHL where he started for the Atlanta Flames, Boston Bruins, and Minnesota North Stars. While in net for the North Stars, Jim sustained an injury that ended his professional hockey career. Jim is enshrined in the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame, the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame, the United State Hockey Hall of Fame, and the United States Olympic Hall of Fame.

When Jim retired from pro hockey, he pursued a marketing and sales career with the same passion, focus, work ethic, and dedication that he put forth on the ice. He signed on as marketing and sales consultant for Valassis Inserts, owned by Australian media magnate Kerry Packer’s Consolidated Press Holdings and the largest freestanding newspaper insert company in the U.S. While with Valassis Inserts and later Valassis Communications (also owned by Consolidated Press Holdings), Jim took an operating unit that had $300,000 in annual sales and over a 10 year period built it to unit that did $50 million in annual sales, the top sales-producing division of the corporation. During these years, Jim received “Salesman of the Year” awards from the Marketing Corporation of America and Valassis Communications.

Jim left Valassis in 2005 to become the top salesman of Hat Trick Group, a company that creates and produces promotions, incentive marketing, and custom premium programs and products. Under his stewardship and guidance, Hat Trick Group developed new products and services and increased annual dollar sales by 80 percent and its number of clients by 30 percent.

In 2007, Jim directed his competitive zeal and devotion to innovation and teamwork to the launch and operation of Gold Medal Strategies. Still in its infancy, the firm has as growing roster of highly satisfied clients all receiving premium value and competitive advantage.

Jim has volunteered for several years as a youth hockey coach and contributes to and supports many philanthropic organizations and causes, including taking to the ice with the Boston Bruins Alumni to play in benefit games.

Jim and his wife, Sharlene (Charlie), have been married for over 20 years. They have a teenage son and daughter, both of whom are talented hockey players, neither of whom play goalie.

She was a senior starter on the 2001 Fighting Irish national championship team. Ernest Johnson, Jr. (born November 5, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a sportscaster for TNT and TBS.

Biography

Childhood

Johnson went to Mother of Good Counsel (MGC) for his grade school. In Atlanta, he graduated from the Marist School (Georgia).

Early career

Johnson's career began in 1977 while he was still a student at the University of Georgia, taking a job as the news and sports director for the radio station WAGQ-FM in Athens, Georgia. He held that job until 1978, when he graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. In 1979, Johnson began his broadcasting career in Macon, Georgia, joining WMAZ-TV after graduating. He worked there as a news anchor until 1981, when he moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina to work as a news reporter at WSPA-TV. Johnson moved back to Georgia in 1982, this time taking a job in Atlanta at WSB-TV as a general assignment news reporter. He became the station's weekend sports anchor and reporter in 1983. He held those jobs until 1989, when he left to join Turner Sports. From 1993 to 1996, Johnson called Atlanta Braves baseball games for SportSouth (now FSN South), where he had a unique broadcaster partner — his father, Ernie Johnson Sr., a former Major League Baseball pitcher and Braves play-by-play announcer.

Turner Sports

The NBA on TNT

Main article: NBA on TNT

At TNT, Johnson is also known as "E.J.", works as the studio host for the network's coverage of the NBA, working pregame and halftime shows, as well as hosting the network's famous studio show that airs after each NBA doubleheader, Inside the NBA. At the end of each broadcast, Ernie presents "E.J.'s Neat-o Stat of the Night," which has become a popular part of the show but is sponsored by no one, hence the sign that says "Your logo here"; This changed in May 2007 when vitaminwater stepped in as a sponsor for the segment, replaced by Panasonic's Viera line of televisions for 2008. It should be noted that for the 2005-2006 season, his segments were sponsored by Intel Centrino and most recently Suzuki. In the 2008 NBA Playoffs, his segments were presented by Geico and vitaminwater. For all NBA-related shows, Johnson is joined by former NBA stars Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley, and, on occasion, Magic Johnson, Chris Webber, and/or Reggie Miller.

Non-NBA assignments

In addition to working basketball, Johnson is also the play-by-play announcer for TNT's PGA Tour coverage. At TBS, Johnson works as the studio host for their coverage of college football. In 2002, Johnson was co-winner of the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality, Studio Host, tying with Bob Costas of NBC and HBO. It was the first time Johnson had been nominated for a Sports Emmy. In 2006, Johnson won the award again, this time on his own, snapping Costas' six-year stranglehold on it, including the year the two shared the honor. Since October 2007, Johnson has worked as the studio host alongside Cal Ripken, Jr. for TBS's coverage of Major League Baseball.

Past TNT assignments

Johnson's past work at TNT included roles as studio host for The Championships, Wimbledon from 2000 to 2002, studio host for its National Football League coverage from 1990 to 1997, and various duties at the 1994, 1998, and 2001 Goodwill Games, as well as the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He also co-hosted Barkley's now-defunct talk show, Listen Up! Past work at TBS also included working as studio host for their NBA coverage. Johnson also called weightlifting for NBC's coverage of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Personal

Johnson Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, a licensed professional counselor, live in Atlanta and have two biological children (one son, named Eric, and one daughter, named Maggie) and two adopted children (Michael, adopted from Romania, and daughter Carmen, adopted from Paraguay). A Christian since 1997, he works on a regular basis with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Athletes in Action (AIA) and Samaritan's Feet, a nonprofit organization which has a mission of putting 10 million pairs of shoes on 10 million kids' feet worldwide over the next ten years.

Cancer

In 2003, Johnson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but continued his work through June 2006, when he began treatment.

Due to his cancer, Johnson Jr. missed TNT's coverage of the British Open and PGA Championship, the last two golf major tournaments in 2006. Mike Tirico replaced him in the British Open, and Verne Lundquist in the PGA Championship.

Johnson returned to Inside the NBA on October 31, 2006, while continuing his chemotherapy treatments. He had lost his hair due to chemotherapy.

Jeff Strohm (Vermont Frost Heaves Head Coach)

During a college-coaching career that began in 1989, Strohm, 42, has served as an assistant at Northern Illinois, Utah, Marquette and Western Kentucky, reaching NCAA Final Fours with both the Utes and the Warriors. He was one of the finalists in the University of Vermont’s 2003 search for a coach to replace Tom Brennan. “Jeff has a track record in all the areas that Frost Heaves basketball has become known for, from the recruitment of young men who are winners on and off the court, to the development of their potential once they sign on,” said team founder Alexander Wolff. “He’s helped to recruit and bring along five NBA first-round picks and, in Dwayne Wade, an MVP and Olympic gold medalist. He has fresh connections throughout the basketball world as well as a passion for teaching the game. From his associations with people like [former Utah coach and U.S. national team assistant] Rick Majerus, Frost Heaves fans can expect him to adapt quickly to the pro game. “More than that, Jeff understands how basketball and the Frost Heaves fit into the Green Mountain State,” added Wolff, who last month ceded management of the team to an investment group based in Central Vermont. “He grew up on a farm in Illinois, and as a Vermonter by marriage knows how important it is to ensure that the team continues to be part of life in Vermont during the winter.” Strohm is married to former Oxbow (Vt.) High School and Vanderbilt standout Jade Huntington, herself a former head coach at Colorado State. She played in four Vermont state title games at the Barre Auditorium, winning three. On accepting the Head Coach position, Strohm states, “My family and I are humbled and honored to be selected to serve the wonderful people of Vermont as The New Head Coach of The Vermont Frost Heaves. It is with tremendous enthusiasm, energy and excitement we accept this position. Vermont Basketball has produced so many great lasting memories over the years for my wife, her family and the great basketball fans in Vermont. We look forward to helping create many more of these memories in the years ahead for Vermont and its great Frost Heave fans”. Strohm, who holds a B.S. and M.S. in Education from Eastern Illinois, has organized, directed or participated in more than 100 basketball camps and will oversee the Frost Heaves’ Have-A-Ball Kids Camps and Basketball Academy. Strohm lives in Bradford, Vt., with his wife Jade and their daughters Sydney, Jordin and Rylee.

Joe Castiglione (Radio voice of the Boston Red Sox)

Castiglione joined the Red Sox broadcast team in 1983, teamed with Ken Coleman. He admitted not being in the booth when the ball rolled through Bill Buckner's legs in the 1986 World Series, as he was in the clubhouse covering Red Sox' seemingly-impending victory celebration. After Coleman's retirement in 1989, Bob Starr became the lead announcer for the Red Sox. After Starr's departure at the end of the 1991 season, Castiglione became the team's lead radio announcer along with Jerry Trupiano. Castiglione became nationally known when the team won the 2004 World Series, with his broadcast of the end of the game. During the 2007 season he shared announcing duties with a rotating duo of Dave O'Brien and Glenn Geffner. With Glenn Geffner leaving for the Florida Marlins broadcast booth, Castiglione shared the booth with Dave O'Brien, Dale Arnold or Jon Rish in 2008. Dave O'Brien and Jon Rish are his partners for 2009.

Castiglione claims to have been a New York Yankees fan as a kid. He said in his autobiography that he then closely followed the Pittsburgh Pirates because they were the closest to Youngstown, and likewise became an Indians fan after moving to Cleveland.

Castiglione is currently a Lecturer in the department of Communication Studies at Northeastern University, where he teaches a course on Sports Broadcasting. Current Red Sox play-by-play announcers Don Orsillo and Uri Berenguer were among his students and broadcast booth interns. He has also taught at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.

In 2004, Castiglione published a book called Broadcast Rites and Sites: I Saw It on the Radio with the Boston Red Sox. The book is a collection of stories from his days covering the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. It was updated in 2006 to include material on the 2004 World Series.

ADAM NELSON

Adam Nelson was named Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics at Suffolk University in August, 2005. Nelson is just the fourth head coach in the 50 year history of Suffolk Basketball following Charles Law (30 seasons), James E. Nelson (19 seasons), and Dennis McHugh (10 seasons).

Adam Nelson began his career in college basketball as a student, first at the University of South Carolina (1992–1994) and then Boston College (1994– 1996). Nelson worked for 1993 National Coach of the Year Eddie Fogler while at South Carolina, and 1999 National Coach of the Year Jim O’Brien at Boston College.

In 1996, Nelson was named Assistant Coach, and later promoted to Associate Head Coach at Curry College in Milton, Mass. Also during this time, Nelson gained valuable experience while serving as the Head Coach of the Southeast squad for the Bay State Summer Games. His team won the gold medal in 1997, and the silver in 1998. After a two year stint at Curry, Coach Nelson moved on to become a Division I Assistant at Holy Cross, and later Northeastern University.

After his time as an assistant, Nelson became one of the youngest head coaches in the country at the age of 26, when he accepted the job as the head coach at Becker College in 2000. While at Becker, Nelson recruited and coached the Rookie of the Year in the North Atlantic Conference in 2 out of his 3 seasons (2000-01 Abel Carmona, 2002-03 Albert Ortiz). The 2002-03 Becker team broke or tied 11 school records and hosted a first round NAC play-off game for the first time ever. The team also ended its 19 game (11 year) drought vs. league rival Mt. Ida College, and halted Lasell College’s remarkable NAC winning streak which extended over two seasons on 1/30/03.

After Becker, Nelson moved on to become the Head Coach Newbury College. There he and his staff successfully recruited the first Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic player (Arch Mitchell) to wear a Nighthawk uniform since becoming a member of the NCAA. Nelson’s run at Newbury was capped off with one of the biggest wins in the programs history - a 76-73 victory over eventual ECAC Champion Wheaton College in February 2005.

Nelson’s first season at Suffolk saw his squad win 11 games while going 9-9 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Junior guard John Murphy was named to the all-conference first team, while averaging 21.9 points per game. In April of 2006, Nelson received the Suffolk University Student Government Leadership Award recognizing him as the Outstanding Athletic Coach of the Year. In 2007, Nelson guided the Rams to nine victories and a berth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semi-finals after an upset triumph over Emerson in the league quarterfinals.

Nelson has gained great visibility over the past two years in Boston media circles, as he has served as a guest analyst for both the NCAA Basketball Championship and the NBA Finals for New England Cable News (NECN). Nelson has made several appearances on “Good Morning Live”, breaking down the brackets during NCAA "March Madness", as well as providing analysis during the Celtics run to the NBA Championship last season.

Nelson and his wife Deb live in West Quincy, Mass. with their children AJ, Jack and Mollie.
