Happy 4th everybody ... now a story for ya.

This past Wed. night I flew out of Burlington, VT to Cleveland, OH with the intention of catching my connecting flight to Flint, MI. My name was paged to the front, informing the flight was overbooked; and I was the odd-man out.

"Mr. Fuller, we can give you a $300 voucher, good for any Continental destination in the next year; and put you in a taxi to Grand Rapids, MI. The taxi company said it's only 3 1/2 hours and we'll pay the $632."

They gave me a $12 food voucher at 9:05 PM. All the eateries closed at 9. I gave the voucher to a security guard.

... I was waiting outside Door 5 when a blue minivan, with a handicap tag hanging from the rear view mirror, pulled up ... this van was 'old school,' side window latch broken ... flopped the entire 293 mile, 5 hr. trip. However, the driver's wheezing could be heard over the constant glass banging against the side of the van.

My driver had 6 children, 11 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren. She had never been to Grand Rapids, MI. When I asked if she had a map, her response ... classic, "The last guy who robbed me, stole my map."

As we drover further from Cleveland, the loud radio began blaring static. When I requested the station be changed, the driver pressed FM and then back to AM ... the static resumed and remained blaring for over an hour ...

Though the speed limit is 70 mph in MI, we journeyed between 65-68 mph for the near 300 miles.

I am more than thankful to those who prayed and kept me laughing while I texted, tweeted and FB-status-updated from my EnV2. I made it to my brother-in-law's door step at 2:30 AM.

Attempting

to find my boy, Bobby Shedd, work now that he's a college graduate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-60TKPhKDGw

last night

Boston held a 10-1 lead vs. Baltimore ... and LOST, 11-10. The bullpen, which I claimed a few weeks ago to be better than the Yankees starters (partly in jest) ... was ... not 'sharp' to say the least.

I want to blame the rain delay; but ... c'mon, I'm a realist not an idiot.
