"It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life"
I finished listening to this 'book-on-tape' driving to work this morning.
What a story ... the journey ...
Frankly, Oliver Wyman, the one who read, came across arrogant at times; thus portraying the stereotypical perception of Lance ...
However, no one can take away the accomplishments Lance Armstrong has achieved; and though tainted by the era of PED's in which he's ridden, what a compelling story.
On the final page of the SI double issue this week (July 13-20, 2009), Selena Roberts makes an interesting point, some 9 years after It's Not About the Bike was released. She writes, "Armstrong's inspiring ad is ribboned with a not-so-subtle concept: To scrutinize him is to criticize his cause; to be skeptical of him is to be anitcure."
All I know is currently Lance Armstrong is in contention for his 8th Tour de France championship:
"A split second off the lead with the might Pyrennees looming, Lance Armstrong now gets to see what his rivals can throw at him...The seven-time champion said he was happy to emerge unscathed from Thursdays 'nervous' ride...During his long championship reign on the Tour, Armstrong always made his mark by the first big mountains - methodically gaining on competitors while keeping an eye over his rear wheel."
